Wood is a renewable raw material. When sourced through sustainable forest management and processed appropriately, it can make a significant contribution to resource-efficient construction. After all, under ideal conditions, all that is needed for this building material to form is a little space, sunshine, rain – and time. As it grows, a tree also absorbs carbon from the air and stores it in its wood. Anyone who builds with timber whilst ensuring that the material is processed regionally and in an environmentally friendly manner – including, for example, the use of their own waste materials, renewable process energy, short transport routes and EPDs – can help to reduce a building’s environmental impact, depending on the planning and execution. To this end, products from best wood SCHNEIDER are certified – independently of the Rosenheim Institute for Building Biology – via Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) as well as PEFC and HolzVonHier certification.
The IBR quality mark from the Rosenheim Institute for Building Biology identifies building materials and products that have not only been tested for potential negative impacts on people and the environment, but also take into account aspects such as manufacture, processing and recycling. PEFC is the world’s largest independent organisation dedicated to ensuring and improving sustainable forest management in accordance with ecological, social and economic standards.

The Institut für Baubiologie Rosenheim GmbH (IBR, Institute for Biologically Sound Construction) puts its seal of approval ‘Examined and Recommended by the Institute for Biologically Sound Construction in Rosenheim (Germany)’ on healthy and environmentally sustainable consumer construction products.
PEFC is a transparent and independent system for ensuring sustainable forest management and thus a global "forest MOT". Forest certification according to PEFC standards is based on very strict guidelines for the sustainable management of forests. This management is controlled by competent and independent organisations.
Material guarantee deposited with the Central Association of the German Roofing Trade. Only the professional processing of flawless materials guarantees true customer satisfaction. This is why the ZVDH has developed the material guarantees together with renowned partners in the roofing industry. We offer the guild companies protection in the event of material complaints, in that we, as the manufacturer, have deposited a comprehensive guarantee for our products.
Wood offers many advantages even during the construction phase: It can be processed quickly and with precision, and—depending on the design—allows for slim and lightweight structural elements. At the same time, wood is a renewable resource. Thanks to the wide variety of species, the right type of wood with the right material properties can always be used for the specific purpose. The service life of timber constructions is in no way inferior to other building materials - and should a building have to give way one day, the wood it contains can be returned to the raw material cycle.
Wood offers a wide range of possibilities for future-oriented construction. In addition to construction and maintenance costs, the environmental impacts of the building materials used can also be considered over their entire life cycle. Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) provide transparency regarding these impacts for our products based on defined parameters and life cycle stages. Aspects such as a long service life and opportunities for reuse and recycling can also be taken into account as early as the planning stage.
